2016 Welcomes major changes for Aurora State college of Technology. ASCOT started 2016 with a bang with major shake ups in its top positions Dr. Ma Luz Cabatan moving from being VP for Administration to VP for Academic Affairs while Dr. Oscar Barawid Jr. filling up the position overseeing the Admin Core functions.

Here is a preview of the Life of Dr. OSCAR Barawid Jr.

The energetic young man is an engineer by profession. His professional interest is lined with mechanics: Robot Tractors, Farming innovations, Alternative Energy, to name a few. In fact, he Developed two fully-autonomous robot tractors that can control steering, PTO, 3-point hitches, transmission and speed .

His credible resume includes working as an Associate Professor V handling engineering subjects including Thermodynamics, Power Plant Design at the same time teaching in Graduate Studies.

Aside from ASCOT his previous work experiences includes being a consultant in Titan Cold Storage, a plant inclined with refrigeration. In the college, positions he previously handled are Director for planning, Chairman for Mechanical Engineering and Research Coordinator for the Engineering department.

After years of teaching in the college, he further honed his crafts and skill in Sapporo, Japan, where he finished Master of Science in Bio-production Engineering at Hokkaido University. He continued his doctorate in Studies, Doctor of Philosophy in Bio-Production Engineering , in the same university both as a scholar under the Japanese Government (MONBUKAGAKUSHO) Scholarship.

The man was also able to publish international papers . Some of his publications are “(2011). Robot Farming System in Japan. Agricultural Mechanization in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. 42 (1): 83-88. , (2010). Automatic Guidance System in Real-time Orchard Apllication (Part 2) – Development of Low-cost and Small-scale Electronic Robot Vehicle for Orchard Application. 72 (3): 243-250. (2007). Development of a calibration method for a 2-dimensional laser scanner mounted on an automated vehicle7. He is also a member of American Society of Agricultural Engineers (United Sates of America ) .

With his studies and experiences in Japan he went back to service in Aurora State College of Tech
to teach and share his expertise.

A many time winner of In-House Review of On-Going andCompleted Research Projects conducted by Research Department of ASCOT. Some of his researches are presented are : Heating Facility for Salt Production in Aurora Province, Stationary Bicycle with Electronic Gadgets Charger, and Development of Electronic Utility Robot Vehicle for Open Field and Orchard Application.

Dr. Oscar Barawid Jr. was born on June 10, 1976 , age 39 as of the present writing. Married and currently residing in Pingit, Baler, Aurora. He spend his past time ,reading, playing basketball and tennis.
