Welcome to the Office of Library Services

Library History
The ASCOT Library was established at the same time as the establishment of the Aurora State College of Technology. The Library traces its humble beginnings in a corner of a larger room used as an administration office provided by Baler Central School for ASCOT. Initially, it was used only as a reading room and a depository of some educational materials acquired by ASCOT through various sources of donations from Senator Edgardo J. Angara, Non-Government Organizations, and other government agencies, whose primary concern is to support students’ curricular activities. Such contributions were collected until a small collection of books and other reading materials was formed in the humble room.

Initially, the Library was managed by Mardelyn B. Barrogo, a licensed teacher with a plantilla position of College Librarian III. In late 1996, the Library moved into the completed Phase 1 of the General Education Building into a classroom. It began as a classroom library and housed reference materials to meet the needs of ASCOT faculty and students. With the increasing need and demand for library services, the administration, led by the first President of ASCOT, Dr. Benny A. Palma, made a necessary expansion of the Library in 1998. Library furniture and books were also purchased to enrich the Library. ASCOT Library also plays a significant role in promoting learning and research activities.

The unit is under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and is directly supervised by Prof. Mardelyn B. Barrogo, a licensed librarian designated as the Head Librarian. ASCOT Library consists of the main Library and its two campuses: Bazal Campus, Maria, Aurora, and Esteves Campus, Casiguran. The Main Library and its campuses are developing their units through updated and upgraded furniture, equipment, and educational facilities, the continuous acquisition of books, periodicals, and other electronic resources, and improving technical and reader services.
