ASCOT Security Team Recharged for Excellence in Professionalism and Ethics
January 7-8, 2025 – the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) organized a two-day workshop which aimed at enhancing the professionalism and ethical conduct of its security personnel. Key topics were discussed, starting with Professional Conduct Training, led by Maria Veronica M. Dulay, Head of the Human Resource Management Unit. The session focused on the duties and responsibilities of security personnel, emphasizing the importance of respectful and professional interaction with ASCOT employees and students. A Stress and Conflict Management Workshop facilitated by Ms. Amparo Roberta A. Espinosa, Director of the Gender and Development Unit, underscored the inevitability of stress in daily tasks. Strategies to mitigate its negative effects were shared, fostering a healthier work environment for security personnel. The third significant topic was Gender Sensitivity and Violence Prevention Training, facilitated by Ms. Malou C. Angara, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and facilitated by Ms. Espinosa on the second day. This session highlighted the importance of inclusivity and respect in fostering a safer and more harmonious workplace. Vice President for Administration, Planning, and Finance, Engr. Oscar C. New ASCOT Shelter Livelihood Project Sprouts at Sitio Bulos l Empowering Communities with Sustainable Mushroom Farming
January 7, 2025 | Sitio Bulos, Brgy. Dinadiawan, Dipaculao – A new chapter of hope and sustainability has begun in Sitio Bulos, thanks to the ASCOT Shelter team’s latest livelihood project. The team distributed 10 fruit bags of mushrooms to each household, offering both nourishment and an opportunity for economic growth, particularly in the wake of Typhoon Pepito’s impact. This distribution was just one part of ASCOT’s larger initiative to equip the community with practical tools for sustainable living. Residents also took part in a hands-on workshop led by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes and Dr. Rich Milton R. Dulay from the CLSU Center for Mushroom Research and Development. The session focused on the essentials of mushroom farming, teaching the community how to grow mushrooms not only for food but also as a potential source of income. “Ang mushroom ay isa sa pinakamasustansyang pagkain, at maganda itong pagkain sa tahanan, at pagkakitaan sa mga susunod,” said Dr. Reyes, emphasizing the health benefits and income-generating potential of mushroom farming. ASCOT Goes Global: SoEd Faculty Presents Research at the International Forum in Thailand
Catherine A. Salazar, instructor at the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) School of Education, proudly represented the institution at the Thailand-Philippine Bilateral Graduate Student Research Forum. The prestigious event was held from November 22 to 25, 2024, at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand.Salazar presented her research paper titled “Implications to Educational Management of Attitude and Practices Related to Technological Change: The Case of Philippine Basic Education.” The study explores the technological behavior of school heads and teachers, as well as the current planning and implementation practices related to technological changes in Philippine basic education. Using a mixed-method research design, the paper highlights how these behaviors and practices impact key areas of educational management such as equity, visionary planning, system design, leadership, and connected learning.Sharing her experience, she described her meticulous preparation for the forum. “I familiarized myself with the details of the event and chose research that fits with the theme. I thoroughly reviewed my data and research findings and crafted a structured presentation. I anticipated and prepared for possible questions about my research. Rehearsing the delivery also helped to ensure smooth presentation.”Salazar also expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to present her work internationally. “It was a humbling experience to learn from education and research experts from Thailand and from fellow Filipinos from other SUCs in the Philippines. Pagtitipon: A Celebration of Talent, Resilience, and Community
Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) participants showcased their exceptional talent in a heartfelt mini-concert for their fellow ASCOTians after returning from the Culture and the Arts Association of State Universities and Colleges (CAASUC III) 2024 Festival, held last November at Bulacan State University. Initially scheduled before the CAASUC III competition, the concert was postponed due to November’s typhoons but finally took place on December 20, 2024, showcasing ASCOT’s captivating performances from the prestigious event. The evening was a vibrant showcase of cultural dances, vocals, artistry and different performances, all embodying the theme “Pagtitipon” (Gathering). These performances not only highlighted the immense talent of ASCOT’s delegates but also celebrated the resilience and unity of the college community. “This mini-concert is our way of sharing the immense pride and joy we experienced during CAASUC III with our fellow ASCOTians,” expressed performers Trexcy Mae Pio and Lia Briney Mostoles. “Our intention was to bring the experience home and ensure that everyone feels part of the journey.” Beyond the artistry, the event served as a celebration of ASCOT’s achievements at the festival, where the delegation competed across various categories, showcasing their creativity and cultural excellence. “This event is not just about performing; it is also about expressing our gratitude for the unwavering support we received from the ASCOT community,” shared Mr. Joshua D. January 2, 2025 – On the first workday of the year, ASCOT received a meaningful support of 4,850,700.00 pesos from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), facilitated by DOST PSTO Aurora.The DOST-ASCOT collaborative project, titled “Maximizing the Use of Solar Energy in Food Processing Initiatives in the Province of Aurora,” is funded under the Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) program.This project aims to promote sustainability and improve the efficiency of food processing operations in Aurora by integrating solar power systems. These systems will support various stages of food processing, such as drying and packaging, ensuring a continuous, energy-efficient workflow.ASCOT has chosen fisherfolk, fruit growers, and root crop growers in ASCOT Shelter- Brgy. ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes took a moment to reflect on the college’s achievements over the past year, highlighting the progress made possible through teamwork and unity. He also shared his hopes for what’s ahead, focusing on growth and meaningful change for the ASCOT community. One exciting announcement was the funding from DOST Region III for ASCOT’s Solar Energy-Powered Food Processing project. Dr. Reyes explained how this project reflects the college’s commitment to sustainability and its goal of making a lasting impact on the community. He also shared updates about the ASCOT Shelter initiative in Dinadiawan, Aurora. Recently, the team hosted a Christmas celebration there, not just to provide necessities but to help rebuild lives and livelihoods. “Kapag tayo’y tumutulong, sikapin nating ito’y maging transformative—hindi lamang basta bigay, kundi tulong na magpapaangat at muling mag-aayos ng kanilang kabuhayan,” he said, emphasizing the importance of meaningful support. Another highlight was ASCOT’s big win in the GreenMetric rankings, where the college placed 54th. This recognition reflects ASCOT’s dedication to sustainability and serves as a launchpad for its internationalization efforts. Dr. Reyes encouraged faculty to take on global opportunities like scholarships, saying, “Huwag magdalawang-isip kumuha ng international scholarship—malaki ang maitutulong nito sa paggawa at pag-publish ng mga publication. ASCOT and DOST RIII Sign MOA for Solar-Powered Food Processing Project
December 22, 2024 — The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) and the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office III (DOST RIII) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to launch a solar-powered food processing project in Aurora, with ?4,711,200 in funding from DOST RIII’s 2024 Community Empowerment through Science and Technology Program. The project, Maximizing the Use of Solar Energy in Food Processing Initiatives in Aurora such as drying process of fruits, fish products and rootcrop harvests as well as providing an evidence-based research, ensuring the dissemination of best practices to promote knowledgesharing and exchange among project participants, stakeholders, and the wider agricultural community. It also aims to support residents in Sitio Bulos, Barangay Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, whose livelihoods were impacted by Super Typhoon Pepito. Using solar power, the initiative will create sustainable food processing solutions to boost the local economy. The MOA was signed by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G.
