ASCOT is K-12 Ready!
Pursuant to the provisions of RA No. 9155 (Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001) and RA No. 10533 (Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013), Aurora State College of Technology was granted Provisional Permit to operate the Senior High School Program effective SY 2016-2017. The Senior High School program comprises the additional two years to the existing 10 years of basic education, which aims to strengthen the basic education system in the Philippines. It is in accordance with the DepEd’s Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 also known as Republic Act No.10533. Students will choose their career tracks in academic, technical-vocational-livelihood, sports, and arts and design. These tracks will help Filipino high school graduates prepare for higher education, for higher chances of employment and even better chances on entrepreneurship. ASCOT has been preparing for this transition since 2014 through the initiative attending series of necessary trainings relevant to the implementation and already started forming partnerships with companies to employ its graduates.
Education Graduates Pass Licensure Examination for Teachers
ASCOT garnered passing percentages higher than the national passing rates in the Licensure Examination for Teachers for the Elementary and Secondary level administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) last September 29, 2013. With the 31out of 34 BEED graduates who successfully hurdle the LET, ASCOT managed to post a 91.18 % passing rate against the national passing percentage of 31.18%. On the other hand, the BSED graduates garnered a 62.79% performance rate compared to the 39.75% national passing rate by producing 27 new teachers out of the 43 examinees. In addition, ASCOT Certificate in Professional Education graduates, Corpuz, Dyesibel Vejega, Macabitas, Don Hicks Miguel, Pastoral, Marlon Garcia and Picart, Hazel Almodavar also passed the said examination. Congratulations to the new teachers!
Department of Engineering Continues its Excellence in Recent Board Exam
ASCOT Engineering graduates once again registered a high passing percentage of 60% in the recent September 2013 Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination. Engr. Angelo Valdez Alisoso, Engr. Mark Pagal Marfil, and Engr. Marvin Ibarra Talavera, all from Batch 2013 were among the 2201 new Licensed Engineers produced by the Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination administered last September 22-23, 2013. ASCOT’s excellent performances in Licensure Examination were testaments of the hard work and common goal of every ASCOTian in building a promising future through excellence in education.
ASCOT President Appoints New VPAA
Dr. Ma. Luz Ferrer Cabatan was named as the new Vice President for Academic Affairs of ASCOT effective July 1, 2013. Born in Pangasinan, married and a mother of four, the new VPAA graduated Cum Laude in her Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture major in Agribusiness Management from CLSU in 1984 and completed her Masters in Management major in Agribusiness Management from UPLB in 1992. In 2004, Dr. Cabatan took herself to the next level when she finished her Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Economics major in Marketing Management from the same institution.
ASCOT – AMRDI welcomes new PMO
ASCOT Vice President for Administration, Mr. Gerardo S. Rillon is the new acting Project Management Officer of the Aurora Marine Research and Development Institute, effective July 1, 2013. In the recent meeting of the AMRDI advisory board last June 10, 2013, the body agreed for VPA Rillon to take over the position of acting PMO, replacing ASCOT Research Director Dr. Eutiquio L. Rotaquio Jr. Dr. Rotaquio has managed the institution since January of this year and in his six months of tenure as acting PMO, he has managed AMRDI with exceptional service and dedication. Last July 9, 2013, in a meeting held at the AMRDI office, the turnover of position took place. Present in the turnover were AMRDI Executive Director Dr. Miguel D. Fortes, ASCOT Administrative Directors and the AMRDI staff. (KTOlivar)
