January 2, 2025 – On the first workday of the year, ASCOT received a meaningful support of 4,850,700.00 pesos from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), facilitated by DOST PSTO Aurora.The DOST-ASCOT collaborative project, titled “Maximizing the Use of Solar Energy in Food Processing Initiatives in the Province of Aurora,” is funded under the Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) program.This project aims to promote sustainability and improve the efficiency of food processing operations in Aurora by integrating solar power systems. These systems will support various stages of food processing, such as drying and packaging, ensuring a continuous, energy-efficient workflow.ASCOT has chosen fisherfolk, fruit growers, and root crop growers in ASCOT Shelter- Brgy. Dinadiawan as the primary beneficiaries of this project.The ceremonial turnover was attended by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes and Engr. Maria Ana A. ASCOT and DOST RIII Sign MOA for Solar-Powered Food Processing Project
December 22, 2024 — The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) and the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office III (DOST RIII) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to launch a solar-powered food processing project in Aurora, with ?4,711,200 in funding from DOST RIII’s 2024 Community Empowerment through Science and Technology Program. The project, Maximizing the Use of Solar Energy in Food Processing Initiatives in Aurora such as drying process of fruits, fish products and rootcrop harvests as well as providing an evidence-based research, ensuring the dissemination of best practices to promote knowledgesharing and exchange among project participants, stakeholders, and the wider agricultural community. It also aims to support residents in Sitio Bulos, Barangay Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, whose livelihoods were impacted by Super Typhoon Pepito. Using solar power, the initiative will create sustainable food processing solutions to boost the local economy. The MOA was signed by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. ASCOT at the 2024 FOI Bootcamp
The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) joined the 2024 Freedom of Information (FOI) Bootcamp held from December 10 to 12, 2024, Sequoia Hotel, Paranaque. The FOI Bootcamp aimed to equip newly designated FOI officers from various agencies with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively implement the FOI program. Participants engaged in discussions on key topics, including updates on Executive Order No. 2, s. 2016, which institutionalizes transparency in public service. Courtesy of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI-DA), this diverse collection includes Mangosteen, Rambutan, Mango, Guyabano, Marang, and Durian seedlings. The formal handover of these green resources took place during a collaborative meeting on December 4, 2024, facilitated by Mr. Carl Gapasin, Officer-in-Charge Assistant Chief for Operations of BPI’s Crop Research and Production Support Division. What started as a mere structure has now evolved into a vibrant hub for sustainable development. During the Monday flag-raising ceremony at the General Education Building, Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) President Dr. Renato G. Reyes delivered a message emphasizing unity and service, as the institution continues its efforts to aid Sitio Bolos in Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, Aurora, following the devastation caused by Typhoon Pepito. Dr. Reyes highlighted the importance of ASCOT’s ongoing Dinadiawan Shelter Project, which has become a symbol of the college’s dedication to public service. He expressed gratitude to the volunteers who have tirelessly assisted in relief efforts over the past three Saturdays, stating, “Pasalamat sa mga volunteers. Sa Dipaculao, kita mo ang devastation. Babalik tayo. Magtayo ng ASCOT Shelter—kanlungan kung saan dadalhin natin ang teknolohiya at tulong sa lugar na iyon.” The president described the shelter as a convergence hub where ASCOT’s schools can bring their expertise to serve the community. He outlined specific roles: Forestry for reforestation initiatives. Agriculture for animal and crop production. Industrial Technology for livelihood programs. Hospitality Management for health, sanitation, and tourism development. Engineering for water resource solutions. Information Technology for establishing internet connectivity.
