Prior to the afternoon’s ceremony, a Baccalaureate Mass was officiated by Ref.Fr. Nilvon Co Villanueva in the morning of April 17.
Dr. Evi Q. Fontanos, ASCOT-OIC President/Vice President for Academic Affairs led the imposition of hoods and awarding of diplomas and certificates to a total of 44 graduates in the Graduate Program and 584 in the Undergraduate Program, twelve of which received medals for finishing the degree as Cum Laude and With Honors.
The event was highlighted by the words of wisdom shared by Cong. Roman T. Romulo, Guest of Honor and Commencement Speaker. His keynote speech centered on the importance of persistence and getting up each time we fall. Furthermore, Cong. Romulo also mentioned that financial constraints and other challenges are not hindrances, instead we can treat them as inspirations and motivations to succeed. He also shared to the graduates that the integration of ASEAN countries in 2015 would mean more career opportunities for them.
Plaque of Commendation was also presented to Dr. Eusebio V. Angara, in recognition of his dedicated service and commitment as ASCOT Third President from 2007-2014. In addition, Paul Alvin D. Facelo was also awarded a Plaque of Commendation for his dedication and commitment to rise above challenges and for his accomplishment as the first Magna Cum Laude of ASCOT.
Meanwhile, John Paul M. Dela Peña, Class Valedictorian for Batch 2015 delivered his speech expressing his gratitude to the people who helped him and serve as his inspiration in achieving success. He gave special emphasis to his parents and family for all the effort, hard work and sacrifices they endure just to send him to school; to the faculty members, who serve as his mentors for all the advices and encouragement; and to his friends for the time, experiences and memories.
The occasion concluded with the singing of this year’s chosen Graduation Song “I Can” and the ASCOT Hymn.
