On this 67th episode of ASCOT’ To! (Todo-todo): Ms. Kristine N. Somera, Planning Officer I and a part-time instructor in both the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Accountancy discussed and shared her expertise on “The Self Puzzle: Fitting the Pieces Together,” where the audience engaged in a meaningful conversation about the importance of understanding oneself.

Ms. Kristine took advantage of the chance to engage in a stimulating debate about the deep importance of self-awareness and self-recognition. She stated, “When you study and understand yourself, you can know yourself better and you can actually handle situations when you know something about the behavior of people.” Kristine’s engaging conversation reminded us all of the transformative power that comes with recognizing our strengths, weaknesses, and unique qualities.

She demonstrates several methods for unpacking the self through understanding the bodily, sexual, material, spiritual, political, and digital selves. Whereas each dimension of our identity contributes to our overall sense of self, investigating these dimensions can lead to increased self-awareness and personal growth.

As she wrapped up her discussion, she recommended stress-reduction measures for both pupils and adults. Breathing exercises, prayer, a journal, reading, and good habits are examples of these. By incorporating these tactics into our daily lives, we can better manage stress, preserve emotional well-being, and live a more balanced and satisfying existence.
