ASCOT Feature | ASCOT ‘To!
Today’s Episode 41: “Tara na sa Guidance!” (ASCOT- Guidance and Counseling Office) Ma’am Alma Bayudan, PhD., our guidance counselor, served as our guest. She informed us about the office’s goals and responsibilities. She said the office provides us both one-on-one and group counseling, programs for personal development, the administration and interpretation of psychological assessments, and even job fairs and recruitment activities.
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stop by the office whenever they need someone to talk to about schoolwork, coping with negative emotions like sadness, anger, or stress, or even if they just want to talk about what’s on their mind, share their progress toward personal goals, or about their accomplishments.
Ma’am Bayudan also gave us four suggestions for when we don’t feel mentally well. Taking deep breaths is the first step, while focusing on positive emotions is the second, and working up a sweat is the third. Finally, we have the option of keeping a pet or cultivating a green thumb in the comfort of our own homes just like a Plantito/ Plantita.
