The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) recently held a three-day workshop at the ASCOT accreditation hall to craft a strategic plan for its Extension and Rural Development Program.

The event was attended by ASCOT officials, including the college president, deans, and extension coordinators.

On the first day of the workshop, the ASCOT Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, Eusebio V. Angara, PhD., welcomed the participants, and inspirational messages were shared by the College President, Dr. Eutiquio L. Rotaquio, Jr., Vice President for Administration, Planning and Finance, For. Michelle A. Resueño, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, RB J. Gallego, PhD. The workshop aimed to determine the impact of ASCOT’s Extension and Rural Development Programs on the community and develop a strategic plan for implementing these programs in the coming years.

Dr. Rodolfo Estigoy, a consultant from the Department of Agriculture served as the resource speaker at the said workshop. Among the topics he discussed were Logical Framework, VMGO, Strategic thrusts, SWOT Analysis, Organizational Structure, Extension Manual of Operations, and 5-year strategic planning. The workshop also revolved around the vision of the Extension Programs, formulation of mission statements, and identification of core values.

The strategic planning for ASCOT’s Extension and Rural Development Program is a step toward promoting sustainable and inclusive development in rural areas. The college’s focus on rural development reflects a growing recognition of the unique challenges and opportunities facing rural communities.
