Showcasing the talents and skills of Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) Professors and Instructors in singing, dancing, and using innovative teaching strategies in the new normal, the College organized by the Socio-cultural Affairs Office and the Sentro ng Wika at Kultura held its 2nd Virtual Teachers’ Day Celebration via Zoom, October 12.

Focusing on the aim of acknowledging the significant role of teachers in continuing to deliver quality education amidst the pandemic, the theme for this year’s celebration is “Teachers at the Heart of Education Recovery.”

Showing what they got in the different competitions, faculty members from the different academic departments of the College participated in the said event virtually by submitting their video entries in the various virtual competitions that included Department Presentation, VMGO (Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives) Interpretation with GAD Perspective, Music Video Competition, and New Normal Educator Model.

In her message during the opening program, Dr. Evi Q. Fontanos, Vice President for Academic Affairs, acknowledged teachers’ various roles in the educational system, especially during these trying times. She said that teachers, especially the College faculty members, are always doing their best to make their students good citizens by teaching them lessons and developing their characters.

Meanwhile, in his message, Sir Antonio D. Bolivar III, ASCOT Faculty Association President, took the opportunity to remember all the faculty members of the College who are now in the arms of our Creator. In addition, he also welcomed the new members of the College’s educational workforce. He also said that teachers will always be remembered for their actions and impacts on students’ lives, whether good or bad. That’s why it is always essential for them to give quality learning and inspiration to their students.

On the other hand, Dr. Eusebio V. Angara, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, expressed his deep appreciation to the teachers who are innovating and developing various teaching strategies in this time of pandemic to help their students achieve their future goals.

Stressing the roles of those who are also serving the roles of the teachers such as the students’ parents and siblings during this new normal, Forester Michelle A. Resueño; Vice President for Planning and Finance, said in her message that all persons who are involved in the successful implementation of the new normal learning must also be appreciated and acknowledged.

Moreover, the College President, Dr. Eutiquio L. Rotaquio Jr., thanked and congratulated the organizers and the persons behind the celebration’s success. He said that this event showed the flexibility of the College’s faculty members despite the pandemic.

Dr. Rotaquio also added that the faculty member’s innovation and flexibility in having excellent working ethics would be of very great help in maintaining excellence and quality teaching and learning for the College to go on with its path towards “universityhood.”

On the other hand, Dr. Jay M. Amon, Director of the Socio-cultural Affairs, expressed his gratitude, appreciation, and congratulations to the representatives from the different departments who showcased their talents and skills in this year’s celebration.

Moreover, in collaboration with other offices, units, and departments of the College, he said that their office would continue to give joy and hope while enriching and showcasing ASCOTians’ talents and skills in different fields through planning and organizing various activities and programs like this in the future.
