ASCOT Feature | ASCOT ‘To! Episode 59: ATING ALAMIN! Usaping Klima at Basura ( A Discussion on Climate Change and Solid Waste Management)

In this episode of ASCOT ‘To!, we explored a crucial global issue: Climate Change and how we can manage waste better. Our experts from the School of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, Mr. Marlon G. Lingon and Ms. Princess Curitana-Sindac, shared valuable insights on these topics.

To kick off the discussion, Forester Marlon Lingon explained Climate Change, which happens when greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane cause temperatures to rise. This has harmful effects on nature and human health. Forester Lingon stressed that our daily choices, especially how we use electricity, contribute to climate change. By reducing electricity consumption and adopting eco-friendly habits like planting trees, we can make a significant impact in combating climate change.

Meanwhile, Forester Curitana talked about the Ecological Solid Waste Management law, also known as Republic Act 9003. She highlighted simple steps we could take to reduce waste, including mindful consumption, waste segregation, and the use of reusable containers instead of single-use plastics.

It’s crucial for us to create a clean environment without garbage. This benefits public health, preserves wildlife, and improves our quality of life. To achieve this, we all need to work together—individuals, communities, businesses, and governments. Let’s adopt sustainable practices and ensure that waste is disposed of properly and responsibly.

Our resource speakers urge each of us to be vigilant, responsible, and disciplined citizens. Take care of the environment and do our part! Tune in to ASCOT ‘To! every other Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on 92.1 RTV Baler or catch the episode replay on ASCOT’s official Facebook page.

Let’s join hands for a greener and more sustainable future! ?
