Student Leaders Attend PAASA III-14th Annual Convention and Student Leaders’ Congress
ASCOT student leaders, Vicky Ramelo, Cloeyline Peñaloza, Richard Paragas and Bernie Trivinio recently attended the 14th Annual Convention and Student Leaders’ Congress organized by the Philippine Association of Administrators of Student Affairs, Inc. Region III held last February 5-7, 2014 at Raven Resort and Log Cabin in Abucay, Bataan.

The activity with the theme, “Levelling Up For Change Towards ASEAN Integration” aims to provide an opportunity for professional and comprehensive discussions so as to address appropriately the urgent need to enhance, realign and restructure the different areas of student affairs and services, in the face of growing political, economic, social and most importantly educational reforms or changes.

The three-day congress was attended by Student Council Officers, Student Organization Officers, Campus Journalists, Student Affairs Director, Guidance Counselor, Discipline Officers and Organization Advisers from the different HEIs in Region III who received inputs on the matters concern on the effective and efficient management of student
affairs and services in the midst of increasing needs and demands of this changing society. Highlight of the activity were the plenary sessions steered by Mr. Rene Salvador R. San Andres for the “ASEAN Integration: Impact to Student Affairs and Services” and Dr. Maria Paquita D. Bonnet for the “K-12 Program: Implication to Career Prospects”.

Moreover, the Student Affairs Practitioners were also able to have a comprehensive discussion on the Enhanced Student Services Program and some of them were given the chance to share their campus stories and expertise by presenting their best practices in student affairs and services such as Guidance and Counseling, Discipline,
Publication and Student Organizations. On the other hand, Student Leaders undergo a series of activities and challenges in line with the topic, “Leadership in Times of Change”.
