Upholding the vision of Aurora State College of Technology to be a center of excellence in instruction, research, extension and production in Asia, five of its program were submitted for accreditation in the recently concluded First and Second Survey Visit of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) which was held last September 18-21, 2017.

ASCOT welcomed the twenty-three accreditors coming from different state universities and colleges (SUCs) in an opening program which was held September 19, 2017 at the ASCOT Accreditation Room where the Accreditors, ASCOT Accreditation Task Force, and College Officials were formally introduced. The team of accreditors was led by Dr. Evelyn D. Taban who serves as the overall coordinator with Dr. Shiela Mae Carol A. Buslig, Coordinator and Team Leaders/ Program Accreditors, Dr. Elena A. Navas for the Bachelor in Elementary Education, Dr. Yolina T. Castaneto for Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Engr. Wilson R. Duldulao for Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Prof. Arnold I. Malag for Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Remely A. Sanidad for Bachelor of Science in Fisheries. The other lead accreditors include, Prof. Fe Erlinda D. Ibalio, Dr. Rosalinda G. Nones, Dr. Douglas Angel A. Aragon II, Engr. Reynaldo P. Ramos, Dr. Renylin M. Udaundo, Prof. Josephine L. Obispo, Prof. Renato B. Cubilla, Dr. Alberto M. Cabrera, Prof. Elmo C. Rapsing Jr., Dr. Julio Romeo T. Chavez, Prof. Elvis M. Estuesta, Prof. Jose Q. Cabatu, Dr. Paulino P. Reyes III, Dr. Jessie Grace M. Sannadan, Mrs. Ailene V. Joven, and Dr. Roque Ulep. In her opening message, ASCOT President, Dr. Doracie B. Zoleta-Nantes presented ASCOT’s achievements for the past academic years which could serve as the College’s edge in applying for the accreditation.

Of the five programs, the Department of Forestry and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Education submitted its program for Level 2 while the Department of Engineering and Department of Agriculture and Aquatic Sciences submitted its programs for Level 1. Submitted for Level 1 accreditation were Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, while for Level II were the programs, Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Bachelor of Elementary Education. Each of the programs was evaluated in ten (10) areas: I-VMGO, II-Faculty, III-Curriculum and Instruction, IV-Support to Students, V-Research, VI-Extension and Community Involvement, VII-Library, VIII-Physical Plant and Facilities, IX-Laboratories and X-Administrations, based on the standards of the accrediting agency.
The activity was concluded with an Exit conference held on September 21, 2017 where the Accreditors presented their findings and recommendations to the College Officials and local accreditation task force. Dr. Evelyn D. Taban go over the main points of the group’s general impression and leave the group a motivating watchword in life and that is, to add happiness, subtract failure, multiply good deeds and divide blessings. Meanwhile, Dr. Oscar C. Barawid Jr., Vice President for Planning and Finance, thanked the Accreditors, College Officials, Faculty, Staff and the members of the ASCOT Accreditation Task Force for the all-out support to the accreditation process which attests the College commitment to this undertaking. The ASCOT community is hopeful that the programs will all be accredited to achieve the College’s vision to offer quality and world-class education.
