Courtesy of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI-DA), this diverse collection includes Mangosteen, Rambutan, Mango, Guyabano, Marang, and Durian seedlings.

The formal handover of these green resources took place during a collaborative meeting on December 4, 2024, facilitated by Mr. Carl Gapasin, Officer-in-Charge Assistant Chief for Operations of BPI’s Crop Research and Production Support Division.

The edible forest project, initiated by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes, aims to transform the Bazal, Maria Aurora campus into a flourishing hub of sustainability and innovation. Beyond enhancing the campus’s natural beauty, the initiative highlights ASCOT’s commitment to agricultural research, environmental stewardship, and community development. This project also aligns seamlessly with global sustainability efforts, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on Land.

As these seedlings take root and flourish, ASCOT is not only greening its campus but also creating dynamic opportunities for education, research, and community engagement. This initiative serves as a testament to the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change.

The President’s Executive Assistant, Mr. Clyde Jerome J. Cunanan, personally picked up the seedlings—a hands-on effort that underscores the dedication behind this project.

Let’s watch this vision grow—one seedling at a time!
