May be an image of 14 people and textJanuary 2, 2025 – On the first workday of the year, ASCOT received a meaningful support of 4,850,700.00 pesos from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), facilitated by DOST PSTO Aurora.

The DOST-ASCOT collaborative project, titled “Maximizing the Use of Solar Energy in Food Processing Initiatives in the Province of Aurora,” is funded under the Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) program.

This project aims to promote sustainability and improve the efficiency of food processing operations in Aurora by integrating solar power systems. These systems will support various stages of food processing, such as drying and packaging, ensuring a continuous, energy-efficient workflow.

ASCOT has chosen fisherfolk, fruit growers, and root crop growers in ASCOT Shelter- Brgy. Dinadiawan as the primary beneficiaries of this project.

The ceremonial turnover was attended by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes and Engr. Maria Ana A. Espiritu, PSTO Aurora Supervising Science Research Specialist. They were joined by Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Engr. Oscar C. Barawid, PhD, Vice President for Administration, Planning, and Finance, Mr. Joseph T. Gonzales, Board Secretary V, and Atty. Karl Thomas D. Olivar, Legal Officer with support from PSTO-Aurora’s Engr. Rendell Ian Sollano.

“We are blessed to start it with a project that will not only advance the technological landscape in Aurora but will also empower our communities, especially the fisherfolk, farmers, and our local entrepreneurs. Let’s continue to champion innovation, community development, and sustainability in 2025.” said President Reyes.
