Twenty-nine members of the IIEE-ASCOT Chapter participated in the 14th National Student Conference held last February 18-21, 2013 in Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City.

The convention with this year’s theme, “Leading the Electrical Practitioners towards Global Recognition”, highlighted Engineering-related events, including featured speakers, technical seminars, college and career fair exhibitors, quiz shows and skills competitions.

The students under the supervision of Engr. Paul John Figuracion actively joined and participated in the different activities. The team of Ryan Mora, Arjay Hulipas, Jay-ar Lumasac, Harry Marzan, and Theody Perillo competed for the Philippine Electrical Code(PEC) Quiz Show while the group of Christian Gonzales, Andrew Nortez, Lazaro Nialla, Gino Pontanares,and John Manzanillo were the Chapter’s Representative on the Skills Olympics(Building Wiring Installation, Motor Pool, Motor Control).

Also, eleven Civil Engineering Students under the guidance of Engr. Jeffrey Morada attended the Student Conference on Transportation Research conducted in Mapua Institute of Technology, Intramuros, Manila last February 21-23, 2013.

The said conference was attended by Civil Engineering Professionals and students from all over the country who benefitted from topics and issues in connection to the conference’s theme, “Climate Resilient Transportation Infrastructures through Sustainability-Oriented Research and Development”.

Conferences like these give time and chance to Student Engineers from different Colleges and Universities to celebrate the Engineering profession, along with young professional members, and industry professionals from numerous engineering specialties. (C. Panlilio)
