Reyes delivered an inspiring message during the first flag ceremony of November at the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT). He acknowledged recent disruptions but encouraged the ASCOT community to turn these challenges into opportunities for both personal and institutional productivity.
“Maraming disruptions, subalit sana ay maging hamon ito upang lalo tayong maging Mabunga para sa ating mga sarili at para sa ating minamahal na institusyon.. Tingnan natin ito bilang isang pagkakataon upang lalong maging produktibo,” he urged. Dr. Reyes highlighted that these moments offer a chance to focus on essential tasks, such as advancing research and completing pending responsibilities. “Napakaraming nagagawa ng disruptions, but let’s stay positive,” he added, emphasizing the importance of optimism amid adversity.
He also reiterated his vision for elevating ASCOT’s academic programs, aspiring for the college to produce more graduates with advanced degrees, particularly PhDs. He expressed his hope for ASCOT students to gain international exposure through programs like the Fulbright Undergraduate Program, hoping this would inspire a mindset shift towards excellence in higher education.
“Gusto kong magbago ang mindset natin. Nasa higher education tayo—ibang level na. Kailangan natin ng exposure,” he stated, underscoring his commitment to developing globally-minded faculty, staff and students who pursue academic distinction.
