The ASCOT NSTP-CWTS students and faculty spearheaded the “Bottle Harvest: Turning Trash into Cash,” aiming to beautify the Coastal Resource Management Building’s front yard in the second semester of 2023-2024. The said initiative was guided by Ms. Norma T. Barbasa, Director of NSTP with support from facilitators Daniel O. Roxas, Maurine P. Gabriel, Jan Karla N. Guerrero, Janna Martha O. Lopez, and Emmanuel V. Susada, students from programs like Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, and Political Science.

This project aligns closely with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. By collecting recyclables and converting them into funds for beautification, it promotes sustainable consumption patterns and reduces waste.

As part of the project, ASCOT worked with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to help move old vehicles from in front of the CRM building. Students from the BIT program helped by removing old paint, painting the vehicles again, and making furniture. This effort focuses on caring for the environment and involving the community. It also connects to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Beyond enhancing campus aesthetics, the project cultivates environmental awareness among students, serving as an inspiration for future endeavors within the ASCOT community and beyond.
