The Sindayaw, ASCOT’s Performing Arts Guild, was named the Provincial Grand Winner in the Aurora Province Search for Outstanding Youth Organization on September 19.
The plaque was presented by Governor Christian Noveras on the Provincial Capitol Grounds as part of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2022 with the theme “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages.”
Sindayaw, coached and led by Joshua Dela Cruz, Artistic Director, submitted to the search committee their accomplishments and projects from 2021 to 2022. The organization’s mission is to preserve, protect, and promote cultural dances throughout the province through staged performances, and the majority of their dances extend from Luzon’s Cordillera to Sulu’s Tausug.
Despite the pandemic, Sindayaw were able to organize the Banyuhay Concert in May 2022 with just one month of preparation. They also won Champion in the most recent Akkaw Baler Talent Fest- Kakaibalerenyos category. “Iniaalay ng group ang kanilang talento sa bawat Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC) na nirerepresenta sa mga bawat sayaw, sa ASCOT na nagsilbing tahanan, sa suporta at pagmamahal ng mga magulang at sa Diyos.”, Dela Cruz stated on a virtual interview.
The ASCOT-based group now has 28 members and is still awaiting the results of its audition to welcome its new members.
