February 7, 2024 – ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes, and Atty. Ma. Ronely D. Bisquerra-Sheen of Tanggol Kalikasan (TK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, launching the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Project at Juan C. Angara Accreditation Hall, ASCOT Zabali ASCOT.

Witnessed by DILG-Aurora Representatives, ASCOT faculty and students, the event underscores ASCOT’s commitment to environmental preservation.

Dr. Reyes emphasized the importance of stewardship, expressing gratitude to Tanggol Kalikasan and the DILG-Aurora for their proactive efforts.

“Ngayong umaga, ipinaaabot namin ang aming intensyon na pangalagaan ang ating kalikasan. Kailangan natin ipagtanggol ang kalikasan. Sa mga estudyante na nandito ngayon, kayo ang mga stewards para protektahan ang ating kalikasan dito sa Aurora. Panatilihin nating maganda ang Aurora.”

“Tanggol Kalikasan is committed to securing the long-term preservation of local community natural resources. To achieve this objective, we implement capacity building initiatives and partner with SUCs to offer orientation during leadership transitions. The Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) plays an important role in preserving environmental assets, with TK aiming to establish IEG presence in all provinces. SUCs will be instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition.” Atty. Bisquerra-Sheen expressed in her message.

Meanwhile, the DILG-Aurora Provincial Director Ener P. Cambronero, CESO V conveyed his message through LGOO II Clarissa Hess, expressing full support for the program.

“As you are providing this noble program to our community, DILG expresses its full support in your mission to provide avenues for environmental protection and in providing technical assistance and capacity development to our local government units. A big congratulations for the realization of this partnership.”
