May 31, 2024 – Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) concluded the National Heritage Month with its Heritage Festival 2024, held at the ASCOT accreditation hall.

The festival, themed “Talakayan: A Roundtable Discussion on Local Heritage Performance and Culture Memory,” aimed to empower communities through cultural appreciation and understanding. Headed by Joshua D. Dela Cruz, Director of the Socio-Cultural Affairs Unit, the event brought together students, faculty, and local officials to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Dr. Sir Anril P. Tiatco, a professor at the University of the Philippines-Diliman, served as the keynote speaker, stressing the importance of safeguarding and honoring local heritage. In his talk, Dr. Tiatco emphasized how heritage can profoundly influence communities, shaping their identity and character.

The session provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing participants to share their perspectives and experiences regarding local heritage. Through roundtable discussions and interactive sessions, attendees explored various facets of culture, tradition, and memory, enriching their understanding of the rich tapestry of heritage that defines their community.
