The ASCOT School of Agriculture and Aquatic Sciences at Bazal Campus started the Agri-Lineal Landscaping Project from January to March 2024. The students from SAAS, along with community members, joined forces for this initiative. They were guided by NSTP facilitators Ms. Abie Jane A. Beato, Ms. Kim Ann M. Avenilla, and Ms. Eden Joy V. Manalo.
This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger – which aims to achieve food security and promote sustainable agriculture. It introduced Agri-lineal landscaping techniques to both students and the community, encouraging innovative ways to grow crops, improving yields through effective farming methods, and providing fresh, safe food for families.
The main goal of this project was to teach students skills in Agri-lineal landscaping while sparking community interest in gardening and farming. It not only equipped students with valuable skills but also brought the community together, inspiring a shared passion for sustainable gardening and farming.
This kind of activities are pivotal in nurturing a culture of environmental stewardship and resilience, directly contributing to the broader goals of food security.
