The past year may be challenging for many of us because of the pandemic, but still; it did not hinder the ASCOT community in commemorating a very special day for the  College. This December, the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) rejoiced and began another year of continuing Ambition, Supremacy, Competence, and Transformation as the College celebrated its BIG, BOLD, and BRILLIANT 28th Foundation Anniversary.

Led by the Supreme College Student Council (SCSC), the College’s primary students organization, together with other student leaders from different departments, College officials, faculty members, staff, and the candidates for the Mr. and Ms. ASCOT 2021, the month-long celebration started with a caravan that passed through the streets of Central Aurora and ended at the Ermita Hills.

The SCSC also organized various activities, events, competitions abiding with the new normal via online platforms and limited face-to-face wherein ASCOTians showcased their talents and creativity as the participants from the different academic departments competed in the said group and individual contests, which include “ASCOT: Awit ng Pasko,” “Kwentong ASCOTians,” “ASCOT Creative Giant Parol,” Modern Dance Competition, ASCOT Quizbee, “Pamaskong Handog,” and Mr. and Ms. ASCOT 2021. The said contests have their respective criteria to properly select the winners.

On the other hand, the College’s faculty members and staff enjoyed the three-day Team Building Activity held via online and limited face-to-face organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office at the AMCO Beach Resort at Sitio Diguisit, Baler, Aurora from December 15 to 17. With the theme, “Gender Inclusive Activity: Capacity Building Towards an Empowered ASCOT,” the activity promoted camaraderie and sportsmanship among ASCOT employees from different departments and offices who were divided into groups named after different colors. The teams competed in different games including Thug of War, Amazing Race, Yell Competition, and many more. The Team that garnered the most number of points was declared the overall champion.

The teams consisting of different departments and units who won places in the Team Building Activity are as follows:

  • 1st Place: BLACK TEAM (SAS, SCSC, ALUMNI)
  • 2nd Place: ORANGE TEAM (BSIT. ICTC, PIPDPO)
  • 3rd Place: PINK TEAM (EDUC and DFES)

In addition, one of the highlights of this year’s celebration was the “Araw ng Parangal” wherein selected faculty members and staff were given awards and recognitions for the dedicated service they rendered for the College. During the awarding ceremony, Loyalty Awardees for the Years 2020 and 2021 were recognized for their excellent service for the betterment and continuous development of ASCOT for the past decades until now, and even in the coming years. The College also gave awards for this year’s Best Employee, Best Extensionist, Best Extension Program, and Awards of Recognition for their contributions in providing commendable service by performing their duties excellently for the further development of the College and even the whole community.
