ASCOT’s The Voice of the Sierra (TVOTS), student official publication participated at the Organization of Student Educators Services, Inc. (OSSEI) National Conference on Campus Journalism and the 18th Writing Competition at Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City March 14-16,2024

TVOT’s delegation was led by Mary Joy Labadan, the Editor-in-Chief, along with Ron Allen Angara, Gregson Li. Castro, Aldrin Abitong, and Reynalyn Mendoza

With them is Adviser Mr. Darwin L. Magtangob. “As the adviser of TVOTS, our participation in the OSSEI National Conference on Campus Journalism is a very good venue for our campus journalists in ASCOT, especially for the Editorial Boards of The Voice of the Sierra, to widen their horizons and perspectives in journalism. Isa itong opportunity din para magkaroon ng exchange of ideas with other university journalists on how to better our own student publication in the college. Lastly, this will allow them to see and experience what true student journalism means.”

In an interview with their Editor-in-Chief, she said, “It was quite exciting to be a participant in this conference and competition (OSSEI) with the other members of The Voice of the Sierra. Our shared passion for journalism and unwavering commitment to journalistic standards will be our compass through the ever-changing media world on our campus. My goal is to apply the knowledge I’ve gained from this to improve our school publication and uphold the highest standards in journalism,” she said.
