ASCOT Joins the Nation in the Celebration of 2018 Women’s Month

Aurora State College of Technology joins the nation in the celebration of this year’s Women’s Month with the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women”, which aims to give due recognition to the contributions of Filipino women in our society. It highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors and advocate of development.

ASCOT GAD Focal Point Chairperson, Ms. Amparo Roberta A. Espinosa headed the different activities for the month-long celebration reiterating the College’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The GAD activities for the 2018 National Women’s Month include the National Women’s Month Exhibit at the Administration Building Lobby and at the General Education Building Lobby simultaneous with the publication and distribution of IEC materials. In addition, Purple Thursday was also observed in the College where everyone is encouraged to wear purple or purple accessories or accents every Thursday to join the call to advance women’s rights and gender equality, to break gender stereotypes, to stop gender-based violence and discrimination against women. Moreover, ASCOT personnel also participated in the Women’s Month Color Run 2018 held on March 09, 2018.A Women Inspiring Women Fora, facilitated by the Department of Arts and Sciences was also held on March 23, 2018, at AMCO Beach Resort, still in support to the celebration of International Women’s Month.

The National Women’s Month Celebration every March is part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day.
