June 18, 2024 – Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), led by the Student Affairs Services Office, hosted an “Orientation and Pre-Deployment” activity for the Cash for Work program. Funded by Senator Imee Marcos and implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the program aims to provide short-term support to students and graduates, helping them gain valuable work experience as they transition to stable employment.
A total of 106 student beneficiaries from ASCOT participated in the event, including 41 undergraduate students and 65 graduate students. These students will be deployed to various schools and offices within the ASCOT campus, as well as to different agencies outside the campus.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 8, which promotes decent work and economic growth. By participating in this program, students not only support themselves financially but also contribute to the broader goal of sustainable economic development.
During the event, Dr. Alma S. Bayudan, Director of Student Affairs Services, delivered an important message to the participants. She emphasized the significance of the program in helping students and local graduates gain practical work experience. “Magandang opportunity ito para sa inyong lahat, lagi ninyong tandaan ang mga responsibilidad ninyo bilang mga empleyado, maging maayos sa bawat trabahong ibibigay sa inyo,” she said.
