October 21, 2024 – The Aurora State College of Technology’s School of Education (SoEd) has successfully kicked off the first phase of its training and workshop series aimed at strengthening its extension programs. This initiative follows the recent approval of the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) Program for Level III Accreditation and the ongoing preparations for the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) Level III Accreditation.
The initial phase of the training focused on crafting a comprehensive 4-year extension program with a core emphasis on sustainability. This program outlines SoEd’s future extension projects in detail, including the designated leaders, project locations, target beneficiaries, allocated budgets, timelines, and collaborating agencies—ensuring that all initiatives are well-structured and effectively implemented.
Two flagship initiatives were highlighted during the workshop:
The Adopt-a-School Program, which promotes literacy and educational activities; and
The Adopt-a-Barangay Program, which addresses the social, economic, physical, and health needs of the community.
Additionally, the training emphasized the contributions of SoEd’s Pool of Extensionists, who will collaborate with various agencies to lead extension activities aligned with their areas of expertise.
Each program group was tasked with developing a specialized 4-year extension development plan, tailored to their respective fields. These plans will not only serve as a foundation for monitoring and evaluating project progress but will also help identify potential research opportunities related to their extension work. A key highlight of the training was the emphasis on creating sustainable strategies to ensure the projects have lasting, meaningful impacts on the communities they serve.
Through this training, ASCOT SoEd reaffirms its commitment to advancing education and community development while actively pursuing its accreditation goals.
