The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) School of Information Technology celebrated IT Week from February 23 to February 25, 2024, at the ASCOT Bazal Campus under the theme “Breaking Boundaries for Community Growth.”
Dr. Ma Luz F. Cabatan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered a message to kick off the event. In her welcoming remarks as senior faculty of Bazal, she extended a warm welcome to all participants. Reflecting on the unique environment of Bazal, she shared an insightful observation, “Sa bazal makakakita ng ‘sawa’ na lumalamon ng buhay ng kambing at mga gumagapang na mga hayop, sa ganun mag ingat kayo at praying na maging ligtas ang bawat isa sa lahat ng activities for the three-day IT week.”
Dr. Cabatan also expressed her admiration for the dedicated officers who tirelessly advocated for the approval of their activity proposal, commending their perseverance and dedication. Furthermore, she highlighted the role of technology in education today, emphasizing its transformative impact on our learning experiences. Her words served as an inspiring reminder of the importance of embracing technological advancements to enhance teaching and learning in our ever-evolving educational landscape.
The Dean of the School of Information Technology, Mayreen V. Amazona,DIT, greeted participants with enthusiasm and anticipation. “I am proud to witness the dedication and passion that our school demonstrates each day. This week provides a special opportunity for us to showcase and appreciate the transformative role of technology in our lives, education, and future,” remarked Dean Amazona.
ASCOT President Renato R. Reyes delivered an empowering message, urging everyone to embrace challenges and strive for excellence in their endeavors. “Kailangan ihanda natin ang ating mga sarili, ang pagkakataong ito ay guguhit kayo ng magandang istorya ng buhay ninyo at darating ang panahon at sasabihin ninyo na minsan pumunta kami sa Bazal dun kami nagkaroon ng magandang pagsasamahan ng mga IT students.” President Reyes said.
Dr. Imelda Marquez Felipe of Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, shared an inspirational message during the event, highlighting possible internship and partnership opportunities between ASCOT and Sophia University.
Before the day’s activities commenced, Ms. Jean S. Lorenzo, President of AITECH, facilitated a pre-orientation session, providing attendees with guidelines and information for the three-day event.
Over the course of three days, participants engaged in various activities, including flag-making preparation, Mr. and Mrs. IT/AAcoustic Night Personality Development Talk, and the Amazing Race. Digital Designing Preparation, Ms. IT Bebot, Film Viewing, and Academic Awarding Ceremony.
