July 24, 2024 – ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes recently took part in a meeting of the Aurora Memorial National Park Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) at La Patricia Hotel in Baler. His presence highlighted the college’s commitment to environmental conservation and local governance.
As the academic representative, Dr. Reyes focused on the discussions about environmental issues, which included strategies for effective resource management, the role of local communities, and the development of new conservation policies. He emphasized to the board that everyone should be informed about the resolutions agreed upon by the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) to avoid misunderstandings and ensure effective implementation.
Mr. Alfredo B. Collado, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Aurora, thanked ASCOT for its role in providing high-quality environmental education to its students.
Presiding the meeting was the Regional Executive Director of DENR 3, Engr. Ralph Pablo. Also in attendance were Ms. Armida C. Palispis (PPDC-Aurora), Ms. Ma. Paz S. Leander (MAFC – San Luis, Aurora), Mr. Lorenzo D. Sarmiento Sr. (Chieftain of Agta-Tribe Villa, Maria Aurora, Aurora), and Hon. Arnold T. Tapar (Punong Barangay Brgy. Villa, Maria Aurora, Aurora).
Dr. Reyes’ participation highlights ASCOT’s ongoing support in providing academic insight into managing protected areas and promoting sustainable practices.
