During a special meeting held on June 2, 2023, at COSTA Pacifica Baler, Aurora, the ASCOT Board of Trustees (BOT) elected two (2) Private Sector Representatives to serve on the ASCOT BOT.

Dr. Nancy S. Romano and Mr. Julius Ceazar T. Grefalda will assume their roles for two-year terms starting June 2, 2023, until June 1, 2025. The official oath-taking ceremony is scheduled on July 6 during the 2nd quarter regular BOT meeting.

Dr. Romano is an accomplished professional in the field of Animal Science, having earned her Ph.D. from UP Los Baños. She brings extensive expertise in animal health, nutrition, and welfare, and she is an entrepreneur and independent consultant, providing veterinary and consultancy services that contribute to the betterment of animal well-being in various industries. Previously, Dr. Romano worked at Bayer Philippines Inc. and served as an Assistant Professor III at ASCOT.

Mr. Grefalda is a successful business owner and holds the position of Vice President for Internal Affairs in the Aurora Hotel and Restaurant Resort Association. Additionally, he actively participates in community organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and the Baler Sierra Madre Eagles Club.

The Search Committee for Private Sector Representatives is composed of the following members: Dr. Minda J. Formacion as the Chairperson, a Professor Emeritus and Former Chancellor of UP Visayas; Dr. RB J. Gallego, ASCOT Vice-President for Academic Affairs; and Mr. Zacarias P. Bodoy, Chairperson of the Aurora Agricultural and Fishery Council. The inclusion of private sector representatives in the ASCOT Board of Trustees is mandated by Republic Act No. 7664 (ASCOT Charter) and R.A. 8292 (Higher Education Modernization Act of 1997).
