May 24, 2024, Baler Convention Hall – Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) witnessed a heartfelt tribute to leadership during its Meet and Greet Gala, as ASCOT Sindayaw, the college’s cultural dance group, dedicated a performance to President Renato G. Reyes.

Following Pres. Reyes’ State of the College Address, ASCOT Sindayaw took the stage to offer a symbolic cultural dance, gifting the president with elements representing profound values and aspirations.

The performance began with the presentation of water, symbolizing clarity of mind and steadfastness in pursuit of noble goals. This gift, inspired by the Kalinga and Spanish cultures, embodied the soothing, nurturing, and cleansing qualities essential for leadership.

Next, rice was offered, symbolizing bounty and prosperity arising from the hard work of farmers. Representing rural life, particularly inspired by Ifugao culture, the rice symbolized the abundance that nourishes both the body and the mind in the years ahead.

Bamboo, a symbol of resilience and regeneration, was then presented. Drawing from rural and Spanish influences, this gift symbolized hope and inspiration in ASCOT’s journey towards excellence, inclusivity, and sustainability, ensuring no one is left behind.

The presentation concluded with the offering of handwoven textiles, representing the unique contributions of diverse cultures coming together in harmony. Inspired by T’boli, Maranao, and Bago traditions, the textiles symbolized unity and the collective desire for excellence within ASCOT’s community.

Through this cultural performance, ASCOT Sindayaw encapsulated the college’s spirit of unity, resilience, and aspiration for excellence. The gesture served as a touching blessing for leadership, reflecting ASCOT’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive educational environment under President Renato G. Reyes’ guidance.
