Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) proudly collaborates with Tanggol Kalikasan as a key partner for the implementation of Phase 3 of the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Project (EJSRP 3). The project’s formal launch includes the Training of Trainers ( T o T ) program for IEG trainers and Natural Resource Management Module Enhancement, scheduled from February 19 to 22, 2024, at Central Luzon State University in the City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija.

The training program aims to equip participants with essential skills for capacity-building activities and mentoring sessions. This includes hands-on training on the construction and maintenance of fiberglass-reinforced plastic boats (FRPB), aligning with the T o T sessions to enhance practical expertise in sustainable marine resource management.

ASCOT’s representative has made contributions to the collaborative effort, presenting insights on a range of topics such as Basic Ecology, Agriculture, and Urban Ecosystems with For. RB J. Gallego, PhD; Coastal and Marine Ecosystems with ASCOT Faculty Alberto B. Viloria, Jr.; Environmental Laws and Policy, Basic Law Enforcement Procedures by Atty. Karl Thomas Olivar; and Applicable Management Models for Terrestrial and Upland Ecosystems by For. MaryJane A. Marigmen. These insights highlight relevant models and best practices to guide the project’s implementation.

For the Training of Trainers program, partner institutions are encouraged to register faculty members from various disciplines, including forestry, fisheries, the college of law, enterprise, or marketing, alongside the IEG coordinator. Similarly, for the FRPB hands-on training, registration should include faculty members from Engineering and Architecture along with a regular staff member from the General Services Office. This training is set for March in Atimonan, Quezon.
As ASCOT and Tanggol Kalikasan work together, this partnership holds promise for catalyzing positive environmental change and contributing to sustainable development goals.
