May be an image of 6 people, people smiling, people studying and textJanuary 9-10, 2025 – the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) held the AZURE (Aurora-Zambales StartUp Readiness) Focused Group Discussion and Workshop at the ASCOT Research and Extension Hall. The two-day event brought together experts, facilitators, and participants from various institutions to enhance the capabilities of Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) and empower startups, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
 
 
The event opened with a session on institutionalizing and harmonizing TBIs, led by Ms. Eunice Dianne Y. Algar and Ms. Cathrene P. Amante of UPLB’s Technology Transfer and Business Development Office. Participants discussed strategies to establish clear policies, build collaborative networks, and address challenges in sustaining TBI programs.
 
 
Dr. Franch Maverick A. Lorilla, Director for Innovation Centers, conducted the second session, focusing on creating effective incubation models, mentorship opportunities, and sustainable exit strategies to guide startups toward growth and scalability.
Engr. Christian Lance P. Arojado from the SULONG Central Luzon Start-Up Consortium facilitated the drafting of the AZURE II framework, a roadmap for establishing ASCOT’s own Technology Business Incubator. This collaborative effort aimed to advance the startup ecosystem in the region.
 
 
The workshop featured participants from ASCOT and representatives from key institutions, including Bataan Peninsula State University, President Ramon Magsaysay State University, and Bulacan State University. Key outcomes included strengthened collaboration, enhanced capacity building, and actionable plans for advancing TBI operations and startup programs.
 
 
The AZURE Workshop reflects ASCOT’s commitment to fostering innovation, empowering startups, and driving sustainable economic growth across the region.
