The ASCOT delegates emerged victorious garnering 9th Place in the recently held State Universities and Colleges of Region III Olympics at Bulacan State University on December 12 – 17, 2010 wherein they competed in different sports and mind-boggling games.

The opening ceremony was held at the Bulacan Sports Complex which started with a parade headed by the BulSU Brass Band followed by the Marshall, the Honor Guards with the Philippine Flag, the SUC III Olympics Banner and the Athletic Delegations of the 13 competing SUCs including Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Bulacan Agricultural State University (BASC), Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Bulacan State University (BSU), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Pamapanga Agricultural College (PAC), Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA), Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PHILSCA), Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU), Tarlac College of Agriculture (TCA) and Tarlac State University (TSU). Each Athletic Delegation was presented by their SUC representative during the parade.

“BSU na ata ang permanent champion. Kasama ang Committee on Higher Education, magkakaroon ng malapit na ugnayan ang pag unlad ng bansa sa paglahok sa sports. Sa panahon ngayon, dapat Football, Baseball at Surfing ang dapat ang bigyan ng pansin ng estado. Malaki kasi ang kinikita ng turismo ng dahil sa surfing lalo na sa Aurora.”, said by Congressman Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara on his speech during the ceremony.

Sports and mind games started on the second day of the event in different places. Most of the indoor games were held at Bulacan State University including Table Tennis, Billiards and Chess. Outdoor games including events in Athletics, Softball, Baseball, Basketball, Swimming and Soccer were held at Bulacan Sports Complex while Badminton was held at the JCAS Badminton Center.

ASCOT delegates showed their endurance on different sports events including Athletics where Novie Herminigildo gained a Gold Medal on Triple Jump and Long Jump and Vincent Sollano garnered a Gold Medal for the Flyweight division in Taekwondo. And in the fifteen years of playing baseball with the other SUCs, ASCOT got into the finals wherein they claimed 2nd Place. Overall, ASCOT garnered three gold, twenty-four silver and ten bronze medals in different events. (Marik Martin Rivera)
