This holiday Thursday, we aired a double episode for today in ASCOT ‘TO (Todo-Todo) at 92.1 FM RTV Baler!

First, we had with us the Director of the ASCOT Gender and Development Office, Ma’am Malou C. Angara, to discuss with our listeners this year’s celebration of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), particularly in ASCOT. As part of this campaign, ASCOT’s GAD office set up events for students and teachers, such as the GADFitti Art Contest and the One Billion Rising Dance to End VAW Competition.

Ma’am Malou also shared some tips on how to become gender-responsive and sensitive in our community, like in our houses and workplaces, by using different gender-neutral words and phrases. She also encouraged everyone to take simple steps to prevent and end violence not only among women, but also among all genders and groups of people in society.

After the first gap with Ma’am Malou, our listeners were amazed in listening to the golden voices of the ASCOT’s Power Duo, Lia Mostoles and Trexy Pio, together with their coach, Mr. Arnold Monteverde; who won the 4th runner-up spot in the recently held CAASUC 3 Culture and the Arts Festival 2022.

Aside from singing their winning piece, “Anak,” they also shared with our listeners the story behind this experience and victory in the contest.

They also inspired us with their discipline as part of their preparation for the contest. The team also informed us about their experience during the day of their competition and how they felt after knowing that they were included in the Top 5 winners.

Catch ASCOT ‘TO every Thursday (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) airing on 92.1 FM RTV Baler. You can also watch it live on the official Facebook pages of ASCOT and RTV Baler!
