As part of our celebration of the 20th Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day and the commemoration of the 123rd Anniversary of the Historic Siege of Baler, we had our 30th episode this June 30, entitled “Amistad Duradera!” Dr. Jeffrey C. Resueño, the Education Program Supervisor for Araling Panlipunan of the Schools Division of Aurora, served as our guest for today’s ASCOT ‘TO! at 92.1 FM RTV Baler.

Dr. Resueño discussed with our listeners a brief history of the Siege of Baler and where and how the celebration of Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day started twenty years ago.

He also shared with us the activities and programs organized by various agencies, especially the Department of Education and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, in relation to the said commemoration. In addition, Sir Jeff also emphasized why it is essential to always be knowledgeable about our history and how it may affect our lives and values as individuals.

In the end, Dr. Resueño invited us to watch and virtually attend the National Symposium, where different points and knowledge will be discussed in relation to this year’s celebration.
