June 3, 2024 – Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) School of Engineering held its 5th Research Colloquium at the ASCOT Hostel, where fourth-year students presented their research projects and live prototypes under the theme, “Disruptive Technologies: Transforming Engineering Industries.”
Engr. Oscar C. Barawid Jr., PhD, the Vice President for Administration, Planning, and Finance, and the Area Chairman of the BS Mechanical Program, highlighted the role of disruptive technologies in shaping the future of engineering industries and the necessity of innovation to tackle contemporary challenges.
President Dr. Renato G. Reyes remarked, “Research serves as the catalyst for innovation by uncovering new knowledge and paving the way for transformative advancements.”
The event aimed to provide a platform for fourth-year students from BS Civil Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, and BS Electrical Engineering to showcase their research projects and live prototypes, emphasizing the importance of disruptive technologies in the engineering field.
In his closing remarks, Engr. Alking B. Gorospe, PhD, Dean of the School of Engineering, emphasized, “Patents are crucial for securing the intellectual properties of research projects, providing exclusive rights to inventors for technological progress.”
