May 2, 2024 – The Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Regional Field Office 3 convened with ASCOT President Renato G. Reyes to deliberate on the ongoing advancements in the Sustainable Production of Traditional Pigmented Rice Varieties in Aurora Province project.

Supported by DA funding, ASCOT successfully established 8 production technology demonstration farms for red and black pigmented rice varieties and 2 seed production technology demo farms which served as a focal point of discussion during the meeting. Key stakeholders from both DA RFO III and Aurora State College of Technology were present to exchange insights and assess progress. Notable attendees from DA RFO III included Dr. Irene Adion, OIC Regional Technical Director; Dr. Emily Soriano, OIC Chief of the Research Division; Arvin Guintu, SRS II; Ezekiel Espiritu, Project Assistant I; Sharon Wakat, SRS II; Rosemarie Joson, Senior Science Research Specialist; Wesceselma Lingat, Senior Science Research Specialist; and Ayessa Ocampo. Representing Aurora State College of Technology were Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Jona G. Zante, the Director of IGP.

This collaborative session provided a platform for in-depth discussions and strategic planning, ensuring the continued success and sustainability of the pigmented rice project in Aurora Province.
