May 08, 2024 – ASCOT’s Zabali Campus Gymnasium buzzed with anticipation as athletes gathered for the orientation ahead of the upcoming SCUAA 2024 competition. Led by Sports Coordinator Conrad Mendizabal, the orientation boosted student-athletes’ rigorous training and served as a platform for fostering essential values beyond the field.
Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, stressed the importance of discipline in all endeavors, particularly sports. “Ang disiplina ay napakahalaga. Dapat nating dalhin ang tamang disiplina sa lahat ng bagay. Sa paglalaro ng maayos, pakikisalamuha, at pagsunod sa mga patakaran at regulasyon.”, remarked Dr. Cabatan.
Sa susunod na taon, hindi na tayo mag-aantay sa huli bago kumilos. Sa ating mga manlalaro, ito ay isang pambansang patimpalak, at mayroon tayong isang puso para dito.” Dr. Oscar C. Barawid, Vice President for Administration, Planning, and Finance, stated this, emphasizing ASCOT’s commitment to fostering a competitive yet collaborative environment.
In his motivational address, President Dr. Renato G. Reyes invoked the spirit of the Spartans, urging athletes to embrace challenges and focus on their individual journeys. “Let’s channel the spirit of Spartans—no room for comfort or luxury,” President Reyes exclaimed. He encouraged athletes to view setbacks as opportunities for growth and to cherish every moment of their sporting endeavors, fostering friendships, and learning along the way. “Focus on your journey, not others’. Enjoy every moment, build friendships, and learn.” – President Dr. Renato G. Reyes.
The ongoing screening of athletes’ documents for the SCUAA III Olympics 2024 is in progress, ensuring all necessary paperwork is meticulously reviewed. ASCOT players who successfully pass this screening will proudly represent our institution at this year’s host venue, Tarlac Agricultural State University.
