
October 7, 2024 – ASCOT and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) discussed a joint coconut germplasm project at ASCOT’s Bazal Campus, focusing on sustainability and community support. ASCOT is set to become a source of high-quality coconut breeds, with the PCA leading efforts in technology transfer, training, and project management—eventually transitioning oversight to ASCOT.
ASCOT President Renato G. Reyes and DA Roy Devesa of PCA expressed optimism about the partnership, with plans for the project’s smooth implementation. Following the insightful discussion, ASCOT hosted a delightful lunch for PCA at Bay’s Inn.
Participants in the meeting were Pamela Cahucom (RDB-SRSII), Emerlito Angulo (RDB Technical Staff), Gilbert Eslit (PCA / SRS 1), and Juan Milar (DC 1).
