BEYA (Batis ng Edukasyon at Yaman ng Aurora) Serye ng Pampublikong Panayam

The BEYA Serye ng Pampublikong Panayam for 2025 yielded substantial and meaningful outcomes, particularly in strengthening students’ understanding of culture, heritage, history, and community engagement in the province of Aurora. With most participants coming from the School of Education and the School of Accountancy and Business Management of the Aurora State College of Technology, the series provided a formative learning experience that shaped their academic perspectives, cultural awareness, and sense of civic responsibility.

Across the six public lectures, participants consistently shared that their perception of Aurora’s cultural and historical landscape broadened significantly. The session “Ugat at Sanga: Pag-unawa sa Pinagmulan sa Pamamagitan ng Kasaysayan” by Emmanuel V. Susada, Jr. offered students a clearer understanding of how local histories intersect with personal and community identity. Many remarked that the lecture deepened their appreciation for Aurora’s origins and the importance of preserving historical memory.

Equally impactful was “Pinggan Tungo sa Pag-unlad: Pagsasanib ng Pagkain, Turismo, at Kabuhayan” delivered by Kirk Joshua C. Bautista, which highlighted the cultural and economic significance of local cuisine. Participants shared that they began to see food not only as sustenance but as a vehicle for storytelling, tourism development, and community livelihood. This insight was complemented by “Layunin at Kitaan: Kaunlarang Pinag-iisa” by John Aldwin H. Olivar, where students recognized the role of creativity and collective vision in building sustainable community-driven economies.

Topics in celebration of National Tourism Month also expanded the students’ awareness of the province’s identity and potential. In “Aurora: A Resilient Haven of Nature, Adventure, and Heritage,” Ana Riza S. Mendoza underscored the balance between ecological preservation and tourism growth. Students from business programs noted that they gained deeper insight into how cultural and natural heritage can be catalysts for economic resilience. Meanwhile, the presentation “Understanding Community and Continuity: Cultural Mapping Experiences of Casiguran, Aurora” by Kristine Joy V. Corpuz introduced participants to the process of cultural mapping, prompting many Education students to reflect on how such tools can be integrated into local learning contexts and heritage-based curricula.

In essence, the BEYA Serye became more than a series of academic lectures—it served as a catalyst for deeper cultural consciousness and community engagement. Students affirmed that the program expanded their appreciation of Aurora’s multifaceted heritage and inspired a desire to contribute meaningfully to its preservation. The 2025 series demonstrated the transformative potential of public learning spaces in nurturing informed, culturally grounded, and socially responsible youth within ASCOT.
