From Classrooms to Coastlines: Pres. Reyes Visits ASCOT’s Campuses and Green Projects

April 7, 2025- Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) President Dr. Renato G. Reyes made another round of visits today, to the Bazal, Maria Aurora and Casiguran campuses, continuing his commitment to personally oversee ongoing initiatives to quality and sustainability and engage with faculty and staff in advancing campus development.

With Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan, Dr. Reyes led a dialogue with the academic and administrative personnel to monitor the progress of infrastructure and academic support programs that contribute to enhancing the teaching and learning environment across ASCOT campuses.

At the Bazal Campus in Maria Aurora, discussions were held around the ongoing site improvements and future directions for expanding student and faculty services.

Later in the day, Dr. Reyes and Dr. Cabatan with Quality Assurance Office Head, Kristine F. Galam, and lab technician Arianne Gaye U. Paulo proceeded to Casiguran Campus where they were warmly welcomed by the faculty and staff headed by School Dean Dr. Mark Rafael.

The team conducted quality assurance checks and toured the AquaSilviculture Project, ASCOT Casiguran’s flagship initiative for sustainable coastal resource management.

Set amidst the lush mangrove area within the campus, the AquaSilviculture site showcases ASCOT’s active participation in sustainable coastal resource management. The project integrates aquaculture and mangrove forest conservation, supporting both biodiversity and local livelihoods and in line with SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 13: Climate Action.

Pres. Reyes expressed his support for the continued implementation of community-relevant projects such as AquaSilviculture, recognizing their role not only in environmental protection but also in hands-on learning for students.

ASCOT remains driven by innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth across all campuses.
