DBM III Praises ASCOT's Improved Performance

March 4, 2025 – The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) successfully concluded its 2024 Year-End Agency Performance Review (APR) at the Bulwagang Senator Edgardo J. Angara Upper Deck. The event gathered ASCOT’s key officials, unit and office heads, and representatives from the Department of Budget and Management Regional Office III (DBM RO III) to assess institutional progress and set strategic directions for 2025.

ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes and DBM RO III officials (via Zoom) led the discussions, with insights from Regional Director Rosalie C. Abesamis, Assistant Regional Director Gracela A. Ortiz, and Budget and Management Specialist Reymon L. Romero.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Oscar C. Barawid, Jr., Vice President for Administration, Planning and Finance emphasized the importance of performance reviews in driving continuous improvement:

“Isang magandang pagkakataon ito para sa ASCOT upang makita kung na-achieve natin ang mga targets sa nakaraang taon at para rin makahanap ng solusyon at patuloy na magawa ang mga dapat gawin,” he said.

ASCOT President Reyes acknowledged ASCOT’s milestones despite challenges, highlighting the dedication and collaboration within the institution:

“I am grateful that in just one year, we have achieved great things. It hasn’t been easy—challenges kept coming, but so did the solutions. That’s just how it is; every problem has a way forward. And I’m happy that, through our collective efforts, we made it happen,” the President said.

Maria Cezil L. Molina, Head of the Planning and Development Unit, presented ASCOT’s institutional profile, financial and physical performance, income generation, and ongoing infrastructure projects.

The DBM RO III team commended the institution’s significant improvements compared to previous years and reaffirmed its support for ASCOT’s development initiatives.

Looking ahead to 2025, ASCOT has set key targets focused on:

  • Enhancing Academic Programs – Strengthening curricula and expanding course offerings.

  • Infrastructure Expansion – Upgrading campus facilities and student spaces.

  • Financial Sustainability – Boosting income-generating projects.

  • Research and Innovation – Advancing research collaborations.

  • Student and Faculty Development – Expanding training and scholarship opportunities.

Closing the event, Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude to DBM and ASCOT leaders:

“Maraming salamat sa DBM sa patuloy nitong paggabay sa atin, sa mga Deans ng bawat school, office, at unit heads sa inyong mga ambag upang lalong mapaganda ang performance ng ASCOT. Congratulations sa ating lahat.”

This initiative aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, reinforcing ASCOT’s dedication to institutional growth and continuous improvement.

With a solid foundation from 2024, ASCOT is poised for a stronger and more strategic 2025.
