February 25, 2025 – The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), led by President Dr. Renato G. Reyes, has joined a multi-sectoral initiative to advance agricultural and fisheries research in Central Luzon through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Central Luzon Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (CLAFRREDN).
Bringing together national agencies, academic institutions, local governments, NGOs, and private sector partners, CLAFRREDN aims to harmonize research efforts, set regional priorities, address emerging challenges, and support capacity-building initiatives in the agriculture and fisheries sectors. The network will also mobilize experts, facilitate technology transfer, and promote funding opportunities to benefit farmers and fisherfolk.
This initiative aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger, reinforcing efforts to enhance food security, innovation, and sustainable agricultural productivity.
Dr. Reyes was joined in the ceremonial signing by representatives from the Department of Agriculture Regional Office III, including Ezekiel Christian E. Espiritu, Project Assistant I; Sharon A. Wakat, Senior Science Research Specialist; and Jacqueline D. Ledde, Senior Science Research Specialist.
