February 20, 2025 – Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) faculty-researchers, and writers gathered at Bulwagang Sen. Edgardo J. Angara for a Book Writeshop aimed at enhancing instructional material development while strengthening intellectual property rights.
The event opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who expressed gratitude to Bulacan State University (BulSU) for generously providing expert speakers to support ASCOT’s academic initiatives. College President Dr. Renato G. Reyes further emphasized the importance of book writing in his message:
“We must translate our syllabus into meaningful instructional materials. Writing is a scholarly exercise that strengthens our expertise as educators. Through research and publication, we not only develop ourselves but also contribute to knowledge creation—an intellectual wealth that benefits future generations.”
Dr. Rowel G. Olila, Dean of the School of Education, introduced the resource speakers who led insightful discussions throughout the day.
Mr. Marlon B. Santos, discussed effective instructional material development while Mr. Paul Anthony B. Mendoza then tackled content refinement and formatting. “If you want to produce high quality, you have to produce a lot.” Mendoza said.
On intellectual property rights, Atty. Cyrelle Austria guided faculty members on copyright laws and authorship protection. This was followed by Dr. Joseline M. Santos’ session on research publication, stressing the importance of scholarly dissemination.
An open forum provided participants an opportunity to exchange ideas, refine their instructional materials, and seek expert feedback.
This writeshop reaffirms ASCOT’s commitment to quality education (SDG 4) by equipping educators with the skills to develop structured, research-based learning materials while upholding academic integrity.
