ASCOT Faculty Earn Publication Cash Incentives for Internationally Recognized Research

March 7, 2025 – Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) continues to make its mark in international research as several faculty members receive the Publication Cash Incentive for their globally published studies. Their groundbreaking work spans sustainable agriculture, engineering, forestry, aquaculture, and socioeconomic research, reflecting ASCOT’s commitment to innovation, knowledge generation, and global academic engagement.

By rewarding research excellence, the Publication Cash Incentive Program motivates ASCOT scholars to push the boundaries of knowledge while aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education.

Pioneering Research Across Disciplines

Advancing Mycology and Agricultural Sustainability
ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes, alongside Janice S. Aguilar, Rich Milton R. Dulay, Sofronio P. Kalaw, Ernest Gabriel Advincula, Koichi Takenaka and Kenichiro Kimura co-authored internationally recognized studies on mushroom cultivation, growth optimization, and sustainable agriculture, published in the Italian Journal of Mycology, International Society of Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences, and Asian Journal of Mycology.

Breakthroughs in Superconductivity and Materials Engineering
Dr. Mark Angelo E. Diaz, in collaboration with international researchers, made significant strides in materials science and superconductivity, with findings published in IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity. This research strengthens ASCOT’s role in advancing engineering solutions for emerging technologies.

Sustainable Aquaculture Innovations
From the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Marco Flores De Guzman, MSc, together with his research team, explored eco-friendly aquaculture solutions through their study on sustainable feed additives for red tilapia, featured in the International Journal of Biosciences.

Forestry and Environmental Conservation
For. Novelyn D. Buhong, Shierel F. Vallesteros, and For. Jan Orville P. Bautista contributed to forest restoration and biodiversity conservation through studies published in the Journal of Wildlife and Biodiversity and Ecology, Environment and Conservation, highlighting innovative approaches to seedling growth and sustainable land use.

Addressing Socioeconomic Impacts of ASF
Dr. Riosahlie Ylar Madrid and Valin Delfin Bumatay examined the economic effects of the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak on backyard raisers in Aurora, with findings published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Perspectives. Their work provides crucial insights into livestock management and agricultural resilience.
