AI, Cybersecurity, and Tech for Good: Experts Convene at ASCOT’s 2025 International IT Webinar

February 13, 2025 – Industry leaders and researchers from across the globe gathered at the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) ’s 2025 International Webinar on Information Technology, exploring cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
 
With the theme “𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙙𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙀𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣,” the event featured thought-provoking discussions on how technology is shaping industries, communities, and global sustainability efforts. Hosted by 𝘼𝙎𝘾𝙊𝙏’𝙨 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮, the webinar was conducted in collaboration with the 𝙅𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 (𝙅𝙎𝙋𝙎), the 𝙅𝙎𝙋𝙎 𝘼𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙣𝙞 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 (𝙅𝘼𝘼𝙋), the 𝘼𝙎𝘾𝙊𝙏 𝘼𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙣𝙞 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙄𝙣𝙘., and the 𝙉𝙪𝙚𝙫𝙖 𝙀𝙘𝙞𝙟𝙖 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 (𝙉𝙀𝙐𝙎𝙏).
The webinar showcased a series of expert talks that provided valuable insights into emerging technological trendsand their real-world applications:
 
𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛. 𝘿𝙧. 𝙃𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙠𝙖 𝙆𝙖𝙩𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙞 (𝙏𝙤𝙠𝙮𝙤 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, 𝙅𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣) shared groundbreaking research on how artificial intelligence is transforming agribusiness. From predictive analytics for crop management to automation in food production, AI is driving efficiency and sustainability in agriculture.
 
𝘿𝙧. 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙠𝙚 (𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧, 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨) discussed how digital tools are being leveraged to address environmental challenges, optimize resource management, and enhance disaster resilience. He emphasized the importance of technology-driven policies to achieve long-term sustainability.
 
𝘿𝙧. 𝘼𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙪𝙡 𝙇. 𝙀𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙗𝙖𝙣 (𝙉𝙀𝙐𝙎𝙏) explored how technology can bridge gaps in education, healthcare, and governance. His session highlighted successful case studies where digital solutions have improved public services and created inclusive opportunities for underserved communities.
 
𝙈𝙧. 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝘼𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙎. 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙖 (𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙂𝙪𝙖𝙢, 𝙐𝙎𝘼) shed light on social engineering attacks—a growing cybersecurity threat where hackers manipulate individuals into divulging sensitive information. He provided actionable strategies on how organizations can train employees to recognize and prevent cyber scams.
 
𝙈𝙧. 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡 𝙏. 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚 (𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣, 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙮𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙨) tackled the latest trends in cybersecurity, focusing on cyber threat intelligence, risk mitigation strategies, and the role of governments in enforcing digital security measures. He stressed that as cyber threats evolve,businesses and institutions must adopt a proactive security culture.
Beyond the expert discussions, the JSPS Bangkok Office conducted a special session on scholarship and fellowship programs available for researchers and graduate students interested in pursuing advanced studies in Japan. This opened doors for potential international collaborations and research funding opportunities for Filipino scholars.
 
The event concluded with remarks from Ms. Cristelita P. Lombres, representing Mr. Joseph Gonzales, Director of International, External, and Alumni Affairs, and Dr. Karl Marx A. Quiazon, President of JAAP. They emphasized that international academic partnerships and cross-border knowledge sharing are crucial to advancing IT research and education.
