February 28, 2025 – The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) baseball team delivered a flawless performance in the SCUAA III Regional Games, clinching the championship title with an unbeaten 5-0 record at the Pampanga State Agricultural University Oval.
In a thrilling finale, ASCOT edged out the defending champions, the Tarlac State University (TSU) Firefoxes, with a hard-fought 9-8 victory, securing the regional crown.
From day one, ASCOT established itself as the team to beat, displaying relentless offense and rock-solid defense. Their momentum carried them through the tournament, culminating in a championship showdown against a determined TSU squad.
The final game saw TSU take an early lead with aggressive batting and strategic base running, putting ASCOT on the defensive. But in true champion fashion, ASCOT mounted a stunning comeback in the late innings, delivering clutch hits and disciplined pitching to seal the victory and spark celebrations on the field.
Despite the lack of a proper training field, ASCOT’s baseball team defied the odds and emerged as champions.
“Masaya po sa pakiramdam na kahit wala kaming magandang field noong nagte-training, nakuha pa rin namin ang kampeonato. Nagpapasalamat po kami sa lahat ng sumuporta sa amin. Ngayon, Nationals naman po ang paghahandaan namin.”
— ASCOT Baseball Team Captain Lhanz Collin P. Catipon
With this victory, ASCOT not only dethroned the reigning champions but also secured nine gold medals, boosting their school’s overall tally and landing them in 9th place overall in the competition. More importantly, this triumph earns them the honor of representing Central Luzon in the upcoming SCUAA National Games, where they will face the country’s top collegiate baseball teams.
Coach Wilfred Allen D. Julio expressed his gratitude to the ASCOT community and praised his team’s unwavering determination.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa lahat ng bumubuo sa ASCOT—sa ating President, Dr. Renato G. Reyes, at sa ating mga Vice Presidents, Dr. Barawid at Dr. Cabatan, sa kanilang suporta. Kahit wala po tayong gaanong training at maayos na training field, ipinakita ng ating mga manlalaro ang galing at determinasyon. Dahil diyan, nakamit natin ang kampeonato. Atin ‘to, ASCOT!”
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan also shared her pride in ASCOT’s athletes, recognizing their hard work and achievement.
“Let us congratulate the baseball team! We will have a recognition program during the Monday flag ceremony,” she said.
This victory marks ASCOT’s return to baseball glory after 13 years, inspiring future generations of student-athletes. Now, with their sights set on the SCUAA National Games, the ASCOT baseball team is determined to bring home even greater honors.
