Mission

ASCOT shall produce globally – competitive, ethically – upright and gender – responsive graduates in the fields of arts and sciences, forestry, agriculture, education, information technology, industrial technology, engineering, marine and environmental sciences by promoting quality instruction, research, extension and production towards sustainable development.

DEVELOPMENT GOALS FOR THE AURORA STATE COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY (ASCOT)

1. Maintain academic excellence in all courses offered to produce globally competitive graduates.
2. Conduct innovative research, produce environment and health- friendly S & T products that are unique in Aurora.
3. Global visibility of ASCOT through international publications of high impact researches and innovation.
4. Adequate and sustainable resource generation activities including ecological tourism development.
5. Efficient, effective and student centered administrative support services.
6. Construct standard, functional, adequate laboratory facilities and infrastructure.
7. Strong partnership and linkages with national and international universities, research institutions, and industries.
8. Secure, restore ASCOT’s historical image, preserve and protect forest resources and develop facilities that are environmentally -compliant and with sound landscape.
9. Implement relevant and gender sensitive research and extension programs for institutional development, sustainable communities, climate resilience, industry innovation, and linkages.
10. Strengthen and expand public private partnerships to enhance the skills of ASCOT graduates.

DEVELOPMENT GOALS, PLANS AND PROJECTS (FOUR MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF ASCOT)

A. INSTRUCTION

1. Enhancing the competencies of both faculty and support staff through a long term human resources development plan.
2. Subjecting all academic programs into Level III Accreditation status and aiming to become Center of Excellence for Forestry, Agriculture and Marine Science.
3. Improving, restoring and upgrading all instruction and laboratory facilities & equipments, comfortable and sound environment, including beautification and landscaping for better delivery of services needed by the students and the community.
4. Offering new courses, greening all of the curricula, and rationalizing all the academic programs to address the required competencies of graduates needed by the local, regional, national and international labor market.
5. Expanding joint academic programs, partnership and/or collaborations with other academic institutions within regional, national and international levels through private-public-partnership.
6. Establishing Review Center to improve the students’ performance in licensure examinations.
7. Creating ASCOT Open University to provide and widen a better access to quality education.
8. Implementing outcome-based quality assurance monitoring and evaluation in all academic programs to ensure quality education.
9. Implementing a reward scheme for performing faculty and support staff towards excellence in teaching.
10. Improving student services and support programs including scholarship to attract more students in nearby provinces.
11. Implementing transparent policies on faculty and support staff hiring and promotion.
12. Establishing a strong alumni network for job placement and Supreme Student Council partnership in developing the College.
13. Building new academic laboratories, classrooms and support facilities to improve students and faculty competencies towards quality and excellence in banner programs of ASCOT.

B.RESEARCH

1. Strengthening the competencies of faculty, staff and students in conducting research.
2. Creating Forest Biodiversity Research Center, Agricultural Research Center, Coastal and Marine Research Center.
3. Increasing research productivity of the faculty, support staff and even students through national & international publications in peer- reviewed & refereed journals.
4. Enhancing fund sourcing for research by submitting quality proposal in a highly competitive scheme.
5. Encouraging faculty, support staff and students in conducting research.
6. Implementing research and publication incentives for faculty, support staff and students.
7. Formulating policy scheme for faster procurement, processing ofresearch needs and documents.
8. Implementing promotion for faculty and support staff who are performing well in research with respect to their field of specialization.
9. Providing standard laboratory equipments and facilities for research and development.
10. Implementing research capability and mentoring program for all faculty, support staff and students.
11. Transforming ASCOT into ridge to reef research university model in Eastern Luzon.
12. Subjecting ASCOT Research Journal to be CHED Accredited.
13. Establishing Intellectual Property Office in ASCOT to protect the intellectual properties and inventions of faculty, support staff and students.
14. Formulating a mechanism on monitoring and evaluation ofresearch implementation.

C. EXTENSION

1. Establishing Technology Centrum to serve as the one stop shop for all generated technologies of ASCOT ready for dissemination.
2. Formulating responsive extension policies and agenda which are responsive to the needs of the local and national communities.
3. Providing strong logistical support for all faculty, support staff and students who are doing extension works.
4. Establishing techno-demo farm/models for all generated technologies open for all interested farmers and stakeholders.
5. Recognizing outstanding extension activities and workers in the College by providing incentive, promotion and rewards.
6. Strengthening linkages with other government agencies, non- government organizations and to the local communities in implementing community-based natural resources management programs.
7. Formulating mechanisms on monitoring and impact evaluation of extension activities.
8. Offering short-term courses and/or training for the stakeholders for better technology adoption.
9. Enhancing the competencies of faculty, support staff and students in doing extension works.
10. Establishing a new Training Center fully equipped with standard IEC equipment, materials, and other facilities.

D. RESOURCE GENERATION (PRODUCTION)

1. Formulating policies on income-generating projects to encourage the faculty and staff in resource generation.
2. Providing incentive package for the faculty, staff and students who are involved in resource generation.
3. Establishing a marketing and display center for all the products made and/or generated from the College.
4. Establishing forest-ecotourism destinations, agro-ecotourism sites, and mangrove-ecotourism projects which will give additional income to the college.
5. Enhancing the profitability of the existing income-generating projects and agricultural resources.
6. Improving the capability of the faculty and support staff and even students in resource generation.
7. Converting idle land and/or space within the college into profitable and income generating resources.

Develop Aurora State College of Technology as:

• A top ranking higher education in the sciences, arts, teacher education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, engineering and technology;
• A fulcrum of interdisciplinary scientific, applied and development-oriented researches that leads to technological inventions and people-oriented programs that addresses poverty alleviation in host and partner communities;
